Bad Lucy
Bad Lucy is good! Alex Kyhn, Alex Lee, James Miller, Bob Hoag, Gabe Williams and Sam Lopez came together at Flying Blanket Recording to make their self-titled album and it’s very solid! They’re playing at the Hard Rock Café in Phoenix on June 7 if you want to check them out!
The album has five tracks and each is great. There’s no filler on this one. From the beginning, the first track, “Forward” is immediately catchy and never lets you down.
The second track, “Knife,” is a bit more subtle, but no less poppy. The persistent drum and bass groove drives the song along as the guitars and vocals pop around and keep things interesting.
“Hallelujah” is a much softer waltz of a song. It’s full of incredible lyrics and equally incredible tones. There’s upright bass on this one. This is probably my favorite song on the album. It’s a bit more of a folk ballad than a rock song like most of the others. Songs like this get your attention right from the beginning and keep it for the duration of the work. I could see myself listening to this in so many situations, including showing it off to my friends. Excellent work here, Bad Lucy.
“Weather” amps things back up a bit, but the feel seems just as sincere. This is more of a radio song than some of the others.
“The Only Thing” finishes up the album very well. It’s a bit heavier than the others, and they prove that they can pull off a variety of sounds here. Bad Lucy’s self-titled album is a great variety!
