So, I can’t believe nobody’s written about Andrew Jackson Jihad yet. This is one of the most honest and insightful bands in the country today. Sean Bonnette is a visionary. He says the most brilliantly honest things I’ve ever heard. In “Candle In The Wind” he says “Because love is all we need, except that love isn’t really all we need.” He says that we need compassion, money, many other things, and just a little bit of love.
One of my good friends once gave me the best pieces of general advice I’ve ever been given, and it came from an Andrew Jackson Jihad song. My friend and Andrew Jackson Jihad’s song, “Personal Space Invader”, said, “Have as much fun as you would like while helping others have as much fun as you’re having.” Isn’t that what it’s all about? If nothing else matters, we must at least try to have a good time and help everyone else have feel great.
I once quoted the song “People” to a Sociology professor. This song is one of the most depressingly uplifting songs ever written. It spells out all the terrible things human beings do, but then insists that people are “the greatest thing to happen” and are worthy of love. Bonnette says that people are all worthy of love, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, religion, or anything. Sean Bonnette has faith in mankind, and I only hope that I can do the same.
Andrew Jackson Jihad is vulgar, brutally honest, and incredibly passionate. Bonnette address some of the most important social problems of our times and answers them with insistences of loving and caring about every single person. If you only listen to one new band for the rest of this year, listen to Andrew Jackson Jihad
